Hello, hello, hello. Hello peeps. This is Diana Randall Bro coming to you on this beautiful, beautiful midsummer day here in our great town of Prescuit. We hope you guys are having a lovely summer so far. We sure are enjoying ourselves and having a good time. We’ve been busy working, working, working, showing people all around our great town. (00:23) And one thing we wanted to touch on was a new cool bar. Yeah, we got a lot of new venues open. A lot of new venues. And this we’re here today to talk about the Cortez. Super cool. Which is really cool. This is like the uh third venue I think we’ve seen since we we got here. It was uh I forget what it was when we first got here. (00:47) For a while it was a brew pub and that was the coolest bar. Yeah. Really? We went there Acronite. So, for those of you who don’t know what Acronite is, that’s in December, uh, during the holiday festivities and everything. And I think they had just opened. Really cool place. Real urban vibe, real urban vibe, contemporary. (01:07) Um, honestly, it’s something you might even see in New York City. It’s really sharp, beautifully decorated, great finishes, great seating areas to kind of sit with your friends and relax and just have a couple of beers or wine. And we were super impressed. Super impressed. A lot of really good house cocktails. Yeah. (01:27) U I tried most of them I think that night. I forget. Do they have food, too? I think uh I think they had small plates. Small plates, I believe. So, don’t quote us on that. But if you want great atmosphere and all within walking to the square, walking distance to the square, you can’t beat it. Yeah. (01:46) It’s nice just to kind of gather maybe after work or after your home tour hopefully with us. You can go to the Cortez and have a nice drink and a beautiful atmosphere and just relax and uh and and bars are getting big in Prescuit. A lot of speak easys are opening up and uh this I describe this as an urban bar. Really fine. We were we were quite impressed. (02:09) Yeah, really quite impressed. The the the drinks were amazing and and very unique. Uh, one thing you make sure you don’t miss if you go to the Cortez in the back of the restaurant. Yes. There’s an open area, like an open air area, which is really quite charming and secluded and private. Yeah. Uh, we the things were getting kind of hot and stuffy and loud and uh I kind of snuck out back there for a few minutes just to kind of cool my jets and enjoy my drink and it was just delightful. (02:42) It’s a good make out spot. Yeah. I didn’t make out. I was by myself, but uh I was with the person I probably love the most, but we didn’t make out. No, we did not. I was doing my thing, you know. But she was making all the noise inside. But if you want to make out in private, it’s a cool spot to do it. Cool spot. (03:03) Yeah. Yeah, it is. It is, you know. or so. But anyway, no, we we just we just might be a little warm right now, but in spring and and fall, beautiful to sit out there and again, go have a nice dinner. I think in the winter they’ll put heaters out there to keep it warm for you. (03:21) But again, you know, go have a nice dinner at the square and then just walk a block or two down and have a a night cap at the Cortez. You can’t beat it. Yeah, it’s uh it it contrasts well with some of the other wellestablished places like the Point uh the speak easys. Uh this was again more urban and viby uh more modern looking. (03:43) Hip and happening. Hip and happening. I think we felt cool. Yeah. Yeah. The the crowd was cool. So uh yeah, it was really cool place. So, so anyway, we hope uh you’ll come visit us in our little town and maybe we’ll see you at the Cortez Cortez and uh we’ll have a nice drink and toast to each other. Absolutely. Many people wonder if Prescott is a real “Western” town with cowboy culture. Although the ranchers are here, today’s video talks about why they may not look like classic cowboys anymore. Come visit Prescott and see for yourself – we’ll be happy to show you around!
hello hello hello everyone hello peeps this is Diana Randall Bro coming to you live from the beautiful mountain town of Prescuit Arizona what question we get a lot and we think it’s really kind of cute is so is this like a real western town and yeah you have like real cowboys yeah except we do we have we have quite a few ranchers out here um so yeah if you come Yeah they don’t dress like like cowboys anymore they look like who’s the guy from Yellowstone it look like what he looked like yeah exactly so they’ll come out with um you know they have their hats and sometimes their boots but (00:39) it’s not chalk block full of just you know western now we do have a restaurant or two where people dress up like cowboys which is kind of cool we have a restaurant where people dress dress up like gangsters from the 30s so doesn’t mean we’re a gangster town so people will come in and think it’s really still back in back in time and they’re like “So do you even have a movie theater here?” Of course this is a modern city but it’s just got a unique twist you don’t see horses downtown no you won’t have a hitch and post no no hitch (01:10) or wagons or uh horses or anything like that there are lots of horses around and cattle and ranches and stuff but you’re not going to see someone riding their horse up and hitching up in front of a restaurant now if you watch the movie Tombstone which is about as authentic as it gets some great actors in that movie they will reference Prescuit but you need to understand it’s set in the 1880s right so so yes in the 1880s would you have seen all of those things yeah and it was super cool yeah you could have met Wyatt Herp and all that (01:42) he’s been dead a while it would be cool you won’t meet him now but you can go to the palace which is right across the street from the courthouse square and you can go in there and get your fill of what the town looked like during high cowboy times and see a lot of uh history historical uh artifacts and stuff on display so that’s kind of cool yeah you can take in some country western music if you insist absolutely yes there’s Matt Saloon which I’ve never been in but understand they have good country western music there (02:14) not a fan myself most of the music venues they play other kinds of music so that’s right so um yes it does have a western flavor but it’s not oversaturated it’s just it’s just perfect it’s very charming it’s very nice beautiful western art for sure is heavily represented here and beautiful uh uh Native American stuff yeah lots of beautiful beautiful whether it be jewelry artwork uh rugs um yeah so yes we have a great great representation Native American arts as well as just western uh art paintings and photographs and stuff like that so if (02:56) turquoise is not your thing no one’s going to care yeah but it’s it’s lovely so yeah do we have we are definitely a little spicy western town for sure but it’s not a backwards western town where it’s just dusty roads and and we do have paved roads we do have traffic lights running water we do have no one uses outouses anymore so it’s just enough to really enjoy the beautiful all the beautiful aspects of western life western and what that looks like um a a nice western flavor is what I’m trying to get at so and we enjoy (03:33) it and we love it and now we have fully embraced Native American art we love it lots of beautiful you know pottery and um sculptures and paintings and and then when you learn the history behind what certain things mean it it’s it’s even more meaningful yeah petrols petroglyphs oh yeah very very interesting tale very interesting tale so are we western yes we are heavily flavored but it’s not rough and tumble you’re not going to see a shootout down the street or anything that would be kind of exciting but sadly no so anyway (04:09) if you want to have a little taste of that uh and see what western western town life is like here in Prescuit come on by we’d love to see you come check it out and see for yourself and you’ll probably leave with some great artwork yeah and or pottery i can guarantee it or a beautiful necklace same thing anyway so we just wanted to share with you that yeah you can enjoy some western western aspects here for sure but that’s not all we have that’s not all we have but it’s a good a good it’s a good thing to to taste and see so absolutely (04:41) all right my friends well we hope to see you soon uh not at the OK Corral or anything like that but uh at our beautiful little western town of Prescuit we’d love to see you if you’d like more information and check things out you can go place to go is pickle411. (05:02) com that is our free information site whether you’re a buyer a seller or somewhere in between there’ll be something there for you that will amaze us down entertain and inform you and it is absolutely free zero zero 411.com okay hope to see you soon bye bye
Want great tips on how to drive in Prescott hill country? In this week’s Wine Down we share a few that will help you avoid winding up stranded on the side of the road…like we have several times.
Hello, hello, hello. Hello peeps. We hope everyone is uh enjoying the start of their beautiful summer as we are. Yeah. Yeah, we’re getting into the summer mode. We’re having a good time meeting some great people coming in town. Thank you for coming in, spending some time with us. I am Diane Bro. This is my sidekick, my cohort. (00:23) My co-host Randall Bro. I go by a lot of different names. Yep. But anyway, uh we’re in it together. So, here we are filming yet again. Yeah. Here we go. Come up with a little tip. This was fun. Something we had. Well, it wasn’t fun for us, but not in the moment. Yeah. Not in the moment. It was. So, we are from flat country. (00:46) We originally uh hail from New Orleans, which is really flat. Uh we spent most of our lives either in Louisiana or Texas. Flat, flat, flat. Uh flat and straight. flat and straight straight road. You know, uh we’re not we don’t do the the third the third uh you know the Z the Z-axis. We don’t do a whole lot of altitude. No. (01:12) So, uh learning how to do things like drive and go around when you actually have to deal with hills was a little bit of a a little bit of a learning curve for us. Yep. I mean, it’s not rocket science, but one thing uh that it took us a while to catch on to uh that we thought we would share with you. And it’s happened to us twice. (01:31) It’s happened to us twice. The second time, relatively close. We were like, okay. I I think there’s something going on here. So, we’re a little bit dumb and dumber on this. Yeah, a little dumb and dumber. So, we like to get our gas at Costco. Shout out to Costco. Shout out to Costco. Everybody knows best gas prices. Best gas prices. (01:49) Oh, by the way, our gas prices here in Prescat at Costco are $259 a gallon. So, just want to share that all of you folks living out of state. Yeah. Yeah. Just maybe one of those states that has their own special formulation of gasoline formula. Yeah. Yeah. We don’t do that here. No $5 or $6 a gallon. Yeah. We’re sub sub twos. So, that’s that’s looking real pretty good. (02:16) So yeah, we find the best one of the cheapest places to get gas is at Costco. Unfortunately, Costco is over a big hill. So you got to go up this big hill. Probably the biggest hill that I can think of in Prescat. Yes. Is you’re going up. It’s a Prescat Lakes uh parkway and it goes over a hill to get to 69. And that’s a pretty steep hill. (02:40) Wow. That’s a very steep hill. I have learned I have I’ll let you know this. I have learned to put my car in standard and keep it in either fourth gear or third gear. I don’t do that. Uh going down so I don’t have to burn out my brakes. I don’t do all that. Yeah, she does. She She never drives though. I’m always But it’s highly annoying when he does that. I’ll just say that. (03:01) It is highly annoying. I don’t know if it really helps. She doesn’t like the noise that it makes. Yeah, the the we we moved here and within I don’t know like a month and a half I needed new brakes because I’m just riding the brake and riding the brake and riding the brake. So yeah, that’s one trick is to downshift or at least put yourself in standard so it doesn’t go up to the really high. (03:23) But anyway, back to the gas keeps you going. So we’re going in the opposite direction to go to Costco. We’re going uphill, right? We’re trying to valiantly get there. They were like, “We can do it.” A little I had about maybe an eighth of a tank. It was time to fill up. Yeah. And we’ll get a really good It’s not that far away. Yeah. (03:39) So, you go to Costco. So, we’re going up the hill. Well, we’d run out of gas. So, uh the first time it happened, I think it happened to you and I came and saved you. That’s right. And then it happened to me and then Skip saved me. So, shout out to Skip. Skip and Kathy who came to uh rescue us with Ranger and yeah brought us brought us some gas uh to get o completely over the hill. (04:05) Here’s the thing. When your when your car is sticking its nose up in the air, the gasoline inside your tank is doing the same thing. It’s rolling to one side of your tank. And if it gets too far away from the intake, then you’re going to run out of gas. Even though there’s gas in the tank, it’s not deep enough to get to that point. That’s right. (04:29) And so, yeah, after about two or three times, we finally realized, you know what? Now, you know, I sat there. I probably could have put the car in neutral and did like a a J turn and turned around uh going the wrong direction into uh oneway traffic to get the gas to the front of my car. But, uh I didn’t do that. (04:52) Yeah, we didn’t think that was a good thing. We didn’t think it’d be well received by the other driver. So, that’s the trick. So, so what we wanted to share with those of you like us who are uh altitude challenged, uh don’t drive an an almost empty gas can, never a gas tank up a hill or down a hill because you could run out of gas even though you’re not really out of gas. (05:15) My second tip is always have really good friends with gas uh gas cans who you can call and are like, “Sure, did y’all do it again?” Yeah. Yes. We’re so embarrassed. Yeah. And who lovely lovingly and graciously come to your rescue. Yeah. So, thank you Kathy and Skip. Kathy and Skip. Yeah. Kathy and Skip came and picked us up with Ranger, their dog. (05:38) And I sat in the back with Ranger was one of the dogs for a little while. We went to go get a a gas can so we could fill it with gas. It’s always good to have those kind of friends. Yeah. Yeah. Good tip for sure. Friends who will help you out in So, a little tip. Nick of time. Little tip. So, don’t drive up a hill on empty or near empty. (05:56) So-called mountain time uh mountain town uh uh pointers. Yes. So, something we learned the hard way and we don’t want you to learn it. Wanted to share with you. Yes. So, anyway, that’s just kind of our silly little adventures. There’s always an adventure with the bros. Something something’s always going cuckoo crazy. Always lots of drama. (06:17) I don’t want it, but it’s what it is. So, that’s your tip of the day. All right. So, thank you for listening and remember, don’t go too close. Don’t go 10 miles and try to go 10 miles till you’re empty and try to go up a hill or don’t go fill up at Costco and go over the hill. Just go to the the other gas station. Go to the closer one. (06:35) Go to the closer one in in in extreme times. Yeah. So anyway, so uh anyway, again, remember our our gas prices here are amazingly low. Yeah. So, uh it’s very a pleasant surprise to our folks who relocate here. They’re like, “Wow, I have such a I’m getting such a big break. More money in my pocket. (06:56) I needed all of $2 worth of gas to get over.” Yeah, it was pretty bad. But that’s all right. Embarrassing. Living and learning every day. So, all right, folks. We hope to see you here soon. We hope you don’t run out of gas. Uh but we’re happy to come help you if you do. That’s right. Uh we will. We now have our own gas can. (07:14) We’re proud to say. So u thank you for listening and we hope you find this little tip, you know, helpful so you don’t find yourself in trouble. So for more tips and information, check us out at Oh, pickle411.com. That’s our free information site. Whether you are a buyer, seller or somewhere in between, there will be something there waiting for you that will amaze, astound, educate, and inform you to the absolute extent of your existence. Hello, hello, hello. Hello peeps. This is Diana Randall Bro, your friendly uh Prescat pickle team. In case you didn’t know, we are the pickle team because and I am the pickle lady because I make my famous Cajun pickle recipe. You haven’t had our pickles? You need to try them. Yeah. (00:21) When you come in town, which we hope you’re coming soon, uh we’d love to share our pickles with you and take you on a tour of our lovely town. Yeah. So this episode is about visiting Prescuit. So besides getting pickles, uh, is it is it a good idea to visit Prescuit? When should they come? What what are you telling people? They think about coming to Prescuit. (00:41) What do you think they should know? Absolutely. You should always come visit. We are transplants ourselves. Uh, we made two trips here to kind of get the lay of the land. Second trip we bought. So that’s right. That’s right. Always have to put uh boots on the How do you say it? Boots on boots on the ground. (00:57) Boots on the ground. That’s right. Um, always come in and visit. You also should walk through different homes so you can see Yeah. Uh, what the price points will buy you here. Yeah. Versus maybe where you are or other areas that you’re looking at. Well, well, first of all, first of all, if you come to Prescuit, right, you’re going to have a good time. (01:17) There are things to do here. It’s a great time. It’s a destination town. It’s a good idea to come just because it’s a good idea to come. Absolutely. Just for fun. Just for fun. You don’t even have to look at moving here. Yeah, we’ll hook you up with all kinds of ideas of things to do, places to eat, you know, events coming up and all that. (01:36) Just check out check out our website. We’re always telling people what’s going on here and just plug into what’s coming on. Uh always a good time. If you are in the the point in your home search where you’re ready to look at homes, uh we’ll be glad to help you with that. Definitely. Um, so I think the best time to visit myself is this is a good time early June, July. (02:01) It’s not it actually June is kind of our hottest month. Yeah. And then the monsoons start. So that’s kind of interesting to experience that. You hear about it. It’s good to kind of see it firsthand. Yeah. Really monsoons to me are just giant thunderstorms at them in New Orleans. Yeah. Um, fall is a beautiful time. Beautiful time. Yeah. (02:19) People ask, “When’s the best time? When’s the best time come? When’s the best time to come?” You know, honestly, there’s no bad time. Here, here’s the thing. If you have any concerns about a particular time of year, come then. So, if you are worried that our summers are hot, like Phoenix, our hottest month is June. Come in June. (02:45) If you are concerned because we have snow and you’re never going to be able to make it out of your house or whatever, then come during the winter and see what we’re talking about. Excellent point. Yeah. Cheers to that. Excellent point. In fact, we have had several clients do just that. They’ll come in the winter and they’re like, “Okay, we’ll see you again in the summer. (03:05) We are tracking the weather, but sometimes you need to experience it in person. You don’t believe it. You know, you want to see it. Some people are that way. If you’re that way, then come when you think you’re not going to like it. And uh chances are you’re going to like it. Yeah. As I’ve said repeatedly, I’m sure everybody’s tired of hearing me say it. (03:24) None of our four seasons are extreme. Yeah. So, uh Oh, very nice. I think you’ll find them all bearable, workable, livable. Um but it is important for you to come and see for yourself. Um what we may think is acceptable. You might be like this. People are out of their minds. Our very hottest month is our very hottest month is June. (03:43) So if you’re worried about heat, come in June and see see it for yourself. Our very coldest month is probably February. A little rainy then. Uh come then you’ll see just how bad it is. It’s not so bad. It’s not so bad. Uh but that’s typically when uh we and and our friends are are traveling, you know. So but anytime you come visit February, you will get to experience not only the weather, but you’ll get to experience all the fun that the town has to offer. (04:07) Absolutely. Great music, great restaurants, great theater, great shows. There’s always something going on. And and try to look ahead and go to the Chamber of Commerce and see what shows are coming uh uh art shows to the square. Yeah. Because that’s a good time, too. In the courthouse square, they’ll have great art shows. (04:27) Um sometimes they have Indian art, sometimes they have Navajo rugs. I mean, it’s it’s very interesting. Um, so maybe you can dovetail all of that, enjoy the music and see uh some of the art festival scenes around the square. I mean, if you’re interested in music, then get into the music scene, you know, depending on your we we can hook you up and get you going and get connect you with who you need to connect. (04:52) If you’re into the music scene, then spend time on the music scene in Prescuit. If you are a hiker, then go hiking. Oh, yeah. I mean, do what you want to do. If uh if you’re interested in finding out the different uh communities that are available, we could take you on community tours, show you the different subdivisions, or you could just drive around yourself. (05:14) If you want to get into homes, you will need us to get you into homes. That’s probably a good idea. You get an idea for of what you can get for your money and what homes look like on the inside. Oddly enough, they look like American homes here in in Prescuit. But we’d be glad to help you with that. If you’re not into doing a home tour, you just want to find out what the city’s about, we will more than willing to help you with that, too. (05:40) Yeah, we’ve had that recently. We’ve had a couple of meet and greets where we sat down and just drank some coffee and they just peppered us with questions that were on their mind. Happy to do that, too. they aren’t quite ready to go look at homes and they didn’t want to, you know, kick people out of their house for an appointment when they’re not quite ready to buy, which is very thoughtful. Yeah. (05:59) Uh but we’re happy to meet and just talk about the generalities of life here. Health, weather, health care, I should say, not your health. We don’t Yeah. Yeah. Uh all of it. Um we’re happy to do that. And we’ve done that and had a good time. Yeah. Absolutely. So, uh we can just meet on a one-on-one for a little half hour, talk about life here. (06:19) We can take you out, whatever you want. Yeah. Um, but if you plan on looking at homes, please uh call us ahead of time so we can get you on the calendar. Yeah. It’s really hard to make appointments the day of. Yeah. You you got to call in advance. These people actually live in these homes. They have to plan it out. Got to plan it all out. (06:38) So, but either way, we are delighted to even, you know, we hope that you’re even thinking about coming to visit. Yeah. Absolutely. And and listen, if you’re not ready for a visit, you have some virtual alternatives. We do bi-weekly webinars. Just all comers are welcome to come in. Just get on there and ask questions. Ask questions. That’s fine. (06:57) If you want something a little more one-on-one, we do one-on-one sessions with people. So, we we’ll find we’ll talk to you about your current situation, what your next steps ought to be, what you ought to be thinking about. Be glad to to meet with you on that, too. So, you don’t even have to come in for that. (07:14) Yeah, but if you want to put boots on the ground, we’re we’re excited about that. We’ll be glad to help you. We’re here. Let’s make it happen, Captain. All right. So, with that, uh we look forward to maybe hearing from you on one of our webinars. Uh we look forward to maybe a Zoom meeting or a one-on-one meeting here in town or just a complete home tour. (07:34) Yeah, we are versatile, people. We do it all. We do it all, people. We do. We do. We do. We do it all. Cheers to that. Cheers to that. All right. So, hope to hear from you soon. And uh that’s our little spiel about visiting Prescat. You’re visiting Prescuit. You’ll love it. See you. All right. Thank you for listening. (07:50) Have a wonderful day. Bye bye

Anyway, that’s that’s with a New Orleans accent. It’s not it’s not Parisian. I’ll say that. Okay. (00:24) So, this is Diana Randle Bro coming to you from the lovely mountain town of Prescat, Arizona. I’m Rand. She’s the presc. I am. Yeah. And uh anyway, welcome to this show. Our show. Our little baby show. Our little baby show. Our little baby show. We’re here today to talk to you about your Prescuit Tribe. Your Prescuit Tribe. (00:44) So Prescuit Tribe. Prescuit Tribe. So a lot of people we talked to one of the big reasons why they are hesitant about leaving where they are now. No matter how bad it is, no matter how bad the traffic is, how high the taxes are, how bad the crime is. Yep. You know, but my friends are the fires. Yeah. I’m catching on fire. Yeah. (01:07) I’m about to lose my home. But about to lose my home, but I don’t want to leave because my my friends live right next door and their house is also burning. Um here’s the thing. We are starting to hear more and more of people doing tribes, doing enclaves. They they come as a group. So it’s like, well, look, if you’re going to leave and you’re going to go someplace else, we should all go together because we’re all friends. (01:30) We would obviously we would encourage that kind of thing. We do see that kind of thing happening more and more. So we would encourage you if you are thinking, well, I probably need to move on. This isn’t the place for my retirement. Chances are you have lots of friends that feel the same way. Get them to be part of the conversation. (01:51) You know, have to come with you. Or better yet, I will tell you, uh, we came here cold. Did not know was sold. No family, no friends. Uh, we have another good friend, Bob, who also came here cold. Um, join join a country club. Yeah. Join golf. Yeah. Um, we have met probably some of the closest, dearest friends that we’ve ever had. Yes. In 40 years of marriage. (02:16) I mean, we are taking it day by day now. Marriage, not the friendships. Not the friendships, but we we aren’t almost 40. Well, almost 39. So, we take it day by day, but the friends are here forever. I will say that. I think I think most of them might come with me, but I don’t know. (02:37) But anyway, if we But the the point is is that don’t be afraid of leaving family and friends. There’s a whole big world out there. And honestly, if you open yourself up and you attend, you know, you join a club, you join uh golf, you join this, you join that, you would be amazed how friendly and welcoming people here are at. That’s right. (02:59) And you know, I I really didn’t understand what good friends were until I came here. And he got lost in the fields. Yeah, that’s right. I we did we did a we did a wind wind down on that where they they came and quote rescued me though I still say I was not lost but you know we were living in Baton Rouge uh we were a young couple with young kids and I was traveling a lot and our so-called friends so so Diane uh had a snake there was a snake in the house and the guy no no no no some there was a loud crash in the middle of the night he traveled all the the time. Yeah. So, I (03:37) had babies, uh, young children, I mean, babies, and we were all sleeping in the middle of the night. Glass crash and break and broke. And I was like, “Somebody’s breaking in my house.” So, I called my neighbor across the street. Said, “Oh my gosh, can you look out the window? Tell me what’s going on. I had this tremendous crash. (03:54) I’m here with the babies. Randall’s not here.” And he said, “I would recommend that you call 911.” Yeah. And I said, “You are now dead to me from here on out.” Yeah, but here in Prescuit that would never happen. That would never happen. Never. People would fly over. I mean, I’d have 15 people here saying, “We’re on our way. Don’t worry. Don’t open the door. (04:15) We’re here. Don’t worry. Call the police. We’re coming. We’re going to,” you know. And so, that is what life in Prescat is. Yeah. Yeah. It really is. 100%. So, we call it your Prescat tribe. These are people who are true blue. Uh, they even give you bone marrow. Oh, yeah. They give you blood. They give you whatever you need. (04:34) These people, nobody’s going to match me. I’m caging this. It’s going to match me and I’m not going to match anyone else. You’re screwed. But anyway, the rest of us are doing okay. We’ll Yeah, they’re going to do kidneys and all that. Not Somebody will save the rest of us. You’re on your own. But uh but no, it is true. (04:49) It is some of the the best people we’ve ever met. Um I’ve never traveled with folks. Um these these are people we travel with. We have a great time. They accept us for who we are in all of our crazy which is saying a lot which is saying a lot because we are crazy. Um and you know they just have your back. Yeah. (05:08) And it’s just not something we’ve experienced living elsewhere. But you know if you if you got a good group of friends and you don’t want to leave them behind, bring them with you. Bring them with you or at least begin to explore the possibility with them. Yeah. Uh, as we mentioned in an earlier windown that Diane and I are going to be doing some online things. Come to an online event. (05:32) Yeah. You don’t even have to come to Prescuit. Get a few people, all your friends, and jump in and see what it’s all about and we’ll chitchat. And we’ll chitchat. Yeah. And we’ll chitchat because if you are someplace that you don’t want to be, there’s no reason for you to stay there. That’s right. Find your own Prescribe here in Prescuit. (05:53) That’s exactly we sure did and a lot of our friends have as well and there’s no looking back. So anyway, you and the rest of your friends will be welcome here. Insummation. Yes. Just come here. That’s all. That’s all I’m saying. We’ll give you some good friends. And we’ll have a good time. Absolutely. Absolutely. All right. (06:14) So, cheers to you. So, that’s your Prescuit tribe. Whether whether you need to bring your tribe or develop your tribe once you’re here, Prescat in Prescat, you can find a tribe. a tribe like you’ve never had before. So that’s right. It is the place to be. Yeah. So So that’s your tip of the day. Yep. (06:30) If you’re into tips, the place to go is pickle411.com. That is our free information site. Whether you are a buyer or seller or somewhere in between, there’ll be something there for you that will amaze, astound, educate, and entertain. Yeah. Like you’ve never seen. Are you looking for a way to connect with people and something greater than yourself? We have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you that’ll not only give you a place to help others, but also find your community. On this week’s episode we’re joined by the one and only Bob Swelgin! Bob is on the board of directors of a very special volunteer organization called “People Who Care”. Join us as we discuss the amazing work “People Who Care” is doing for our Prescott neighbors and where you can sign up to join the cause!
hello hello hello fellow pickle peeps this is Dian Bro but today I don’t have the better half i have an even better half Bob Swelgen cheers to you Bob well thanks Diane thank you for joining us he is uh one of our oldest and dearest friends when we moved to Prescuit uh we’ve been friends a long time we travel together and we’re still friends that’s amazing huh it is amazing so we are very very excited because uh Bob is on the board of uh directors he is the treasurer of a very very special organization here in Prescuit called (00:40) People Who Care and so Bob has been asking us hey can I come on and talk about it and we’re like of course because it’s a very valuable um community office uh service that uh his this nonprofit it’s a it’s a nonprofit organization that uh we well was put together about 35 years ago so it’s been around quite a long time we have a good number of people who provide the service of for those people who can’t uh maybe they’re not able to see so well or not ambulatory or or they just don’t like to drive or do things right we provide a (01:16) free of charge service that will take people to non-medical doctors or hospital non-medical things so just for for the for the visit not major surgery or something like that we’re not going to carry you in and out of in and out of the doctor’s office we’re not gonna sling you over and carry you and we take we’ll take pets to vets cool which is kind of cool we have some people who uh they can’t see very well and we’ll actually have volunteers who will uh go to their home and help them read their mail uh we’ll have one or two people who (01:48) actually go and help people with the personal finances and things like that and as you know this town has a very you know a large uh demographic of 65 and older so there are a lot of folks here who maybe are by themselves maybe family isn’t nearby and so they really rely on people who care to come in and help them with some of these day-to-day things that maybe become a little challenging as you get older maybe you don’t drive anymore so people who care can come over take you to the bank like he said take you to your appointments take you to the (02:20) vet but also like he was saying too if you have a new computer right exactly right if you have a have a new computer and you want to transition from one to the other we have people who will come over and help you with that if you got a new telephone you kind of figure out how to use it um would that work for me i think I’ll just say I think we’ll send we’ll send somebody over by you soon too and and get this again free service to come over so it’s uh it’s just a group of volunteers of which I think now we have (02:48) 267 active volunteers today really uh which is pretty good and we can go over budget you got a pretty good budget well we do about a $750,000 budget so we are always looking for two things one is for volunteers and also donations so it’s kind of like you know paying forward a couple ways you know we look at people who move here maybe they’re in their 60s or very active 70 or even the 50s and they want to keep busy want to do stuff so and they want to do something worthy that makes you feel good that you’re giving (03:21) to the community exactly right you want you want to contribute to people who who have a need because at some point in time as I’m I’m here nine years um yeah I look at this and say well you some point in time that may be me who has who has a need so uh I pay forward as do a lot of other people thinking that well at some point in time the community will return the favor absolutely and uh and we try to do that we have fact we have a a couple who made money for years going around the world on providing services (03:51) to do macular degeneration which is a very big problem it’s like seven to 10 7 to 10% of people over 65 have that issue absolutely unfortunately with a with an arrangement we have with the VA a VA hospital they provide some uh equipment that we utilize in our services and if people need some equipment we can actually get it to them whether it be free or if people can afford to pay we actually would like a little bit of that but if not that’s okay mhm um and we provide that services to a good number of people every year but it’s a it’s a (04:26) worthwhile organization we take care of people in a community um again it’s all free of charge now it’s unbelievable and it’s not based on financial need okay so it’s not like um you have to be a certain you know have a certain level of income or little you know no it’s open to anybody who needs help and these uh volunteers are vetted these are not people I just pull off the street hey you want to do something for us no they have a a criminal check we we do have to do a a fingerprinting and it gets cleared through the Yavapai Sheriff’s (05:00) Office uh we do personal vetting meaning if you want to come and volunteer we require a number of references that we have people who call and actually validate the fact that yeah you are a real person you are you you are what you say you are right and we do an online review as well mhm so we really make sure that we have quality people who are really here for the right reasons um and and we’ve had zero instances by the way zero instances of of any issues um in my tenure as well as all the past that I could find 35 years wow so it’s good (05:34) folks who are volunteering a good time so what is the time requirement if you are a volunteer do you have to do a certain amount of hours a week or No as a matter of fact there is no time requirement okay uh you volunteer to become available when you are available meaning uh we have a database that people who have a need can log in and say I have a need to go to the doctor’s office next Thursday or something or even this afternoon and we do have a group of people who actually assign themselves to certain volunt to certain (06:04) we call them neighbors not people in need we call neighbors right so so certain neighbors would input a need and certain volunteers would go back and fulfill that need i like that which is kind of cool if they if they can’t do it then your your response just has to be no today i can’t make it and that’s a complete sentence is just can you do it no right fine okay we’ll send it to you next time so nobody’s putting a gun to your head or nobody’s making you sign anything that says I got to do it it’s free freewheing if you would to the (06:33) point of if I can make the time to support it I’m going to go do that and if you can’t you can’t and nobody’s ever going to call you know that about the time requirement that’s great because a lot of folks are volunteering they’re they’re retired and they’re going to see grandchildren and so it’s kind of nice you have the freedom to offer when you’re here in town and if not that’s okay they’ll pass it on to someone else to come help their neighbor and we know it’s you know the times aren’t great economically so it’s you know you got (06:59) gas fee gas prices and everything else going up we do compensate the um uh the volunteers with the 67 and a half cents per mile that the government has um as their limit you can pay somebody allotted for um for this type of question but the volunteers do not get paid but they can get compensated for mileage correct correct yeah there’s Yeah volunteers are volunteers right and so they donate their time but we do compensate them for mileage because that’s more than their time right sure so it’s um I think that’s fair yeah yeah (07:33) we get Yeah we get a lot of people who um they some of them take the check some of them just sign the check back over and make a donation which we like i love that so it’s u so again it’s just a lot of good people who um make a lot of u space in their day to help others um and again it’s kind of a you know pay it forward it’ll come back in spades later I think so what so we have not only is Bob on the board but we also have a lot of friends who are not on the board but they just simply volunteer their time so (08:01) they have a set group of people that they love and they’re like you know what I would like to work with whatever Bill and I’d like to work with Shirley so put me on with but uh Bill and Shirley and they will take them out every week you know one gentleman is is uh blind so he goes to help him get his cash so he knows you know that he can be safe and protected and Yeah that’s right we have that the one gentleman you’re talking about buddy of our named Chuck know he knows which um which bank to go to which teller at the bank to go to (08:35) when this guy goes for some reason still gets checks that help Chuck helps him get out of his mail they go to this teller and she knows what to give him as far as the the currency issues and you know the $20 bills $10 bills and he makes payments but he has a jacket he always wears and he puts so much money in each pocket to know what it’s all for and then Chuck takes them home and make sure he puts those dollars in the allowed spot so his bills get paid so it’s it’s it’s kind of cool because people have a relationship together and (09:04) so they they know exactly where to go and who to go see which teller to go to it’s like friendships that people form and also you know they just become close and they help each other out which is what community should be about right so you were saying here your 2024 stats you have 267 volunteers and they work 22,000 hours you said that’s right so in um I’ll give you I’ll give you the 10ear stats because we only we go back 10 years because the data before 10 years is 10 years okay we’ve been around 35 but prior to 10 you know (09:40) we didn’t have computers and all that kind of stuff to keep track so I just look at 10 so last 10 okay the average tenure by the way of every volunteer is over five years oh wow so once they get involved with it they stay with it and so good retention good retention so they feel good about it and they’re happy with what they’re seeing volunteering they feel they’re performing a worthwhile service so we have 550 volunteers over 10 years uh 168,000 hours neighbor served again we call the person who needs our services a (10:10) neighbor right um 2240 wow we’ve driven over 1.4 million miles in that process wow and provided uh services 72,000 times um that’s a lot and if you take it $25 an hour being an hour per service that’s about 44 and a4 million worth of um services provided free of charge wow uh now right now we have like 267 um in in 2024 we’ve driven 22,000 miles uh 321 personal paperwork helps i need that and um and 330 just wellness calls oh wow so if people just would like to get a call to make sure they’re okay sure we do that oh I love that i know (10:57) that that’s nice and you did 204 help with tech devices so I would like someone to come help me with my personal paperwork and tech devices how about taxes yeah we’ll help you with taxes soon as I get somebody to help me with my Exactly you don’t do everything in other words you do a lot you do a lot we do a lot it makes you feel good when you do it and you see people who are very very happy to receive it and like I said I think it’s great as you look at people who may move to Prescuit this is something that they they may look at and (11:28) say you know what maybe I I want to keep busy here’s something I can keep busy with um you know when when they decide it’s time to make a donation at the end of the year maybe they’ll think of us also and I think it’s great too i mean it’s just you really do form close personal relationships with these folks and you can do as much or as little as you want um but you do get close and they’re very appreciative you you get something out of it you feel great and you you feel worthy i mean a lot of folks who you know retire are like “What (11:58) am I going to do with myself?” This is something that makes you feel good exactly right we’ll have people who just come by the office we have a very nice office um in in office it’s off of Gurley okay you get past the bowling alley and go almost to the woods yeah yeah a very nice office complex uh off to the side we had uh someone donate a good Well fact it was a legacy donation we didn’t even know what was going to happen till this woman passed and it wind up we had a large amount of money wow and we also had a person who uh was (12:32) in owned the building that we are now in who decided that you know he really likes people who care and his son was utilizing people who care as he was challenged and needed some help a so we got one heck of a deal on the office we got one heck of a deal on somebody helping us with the financing and now we have offices we rent out to other people as well because it’s a pretty pretty goodized place so you’d be impressed if you came by to see the office i would like to so the other the other good thing is is that um with people who care anyway the other good thing is it’s not just locals who are uh donating you know money towards this worthy cause but there’s al that the hospital is donating a ton of money to people who care we get (13:43) a lot of um donations through grants the hospital will give us a grant u some wealthy people in the area make a point of giving us a grant every year we do other things to raise money we have a golf tournament every year out at the club of Prescott Lakes yay which is a great a great fun event cheers to that absolutely and uh we’re going to have a gayla or had have had gaylas to support the organization um auctions and things like that that’s coming up so we try to keep ourselves um active as we can we try to give more people awareness (14:16) community awareness and that’s why I appreciate you letting letting me speak about this today well he’s a good friend and he’s a good friend good person and uh you know anybody who’s out there and who really wants to get involved this is a worthy worthy cause and uh it’s just great absolutely please uh people who care just go people who care. (14:38) org we’ll give you more information on the on the organization um and you look for more and more information as you get to Prescuit um if you need some help um Diane can get you in touch with me and we will and we will uh grab you and suck you into people who care because you’re going to have a great time and feel much value to yourself and to your soul and give back to the community absolutely so for and for those of you out there who are thinking I do need some help they can call uh people who care. (15:08) org or Absolutely they can look there you go to peoplecare.org and Well when you do that that’s easier to say than phone numbers you’ll see a number there you can call that number and get Meredith will be answering the phone to support you um or just peoplecare.org and send a message via that so any neighbors out there who are thinking gosh this is something I need i really I kind of need some help um I’m here by myself this is great we’re here they’re here to help you um and I know a lot of people on the board and just friends who are volunteers good (15:39) good folks and they just want to give back to the community so we can’t speak highly enough about it and we hope that you reach out to us if you need help or if you just want to be a good volunteer this is it that’s it we’re always looking for you know volunteers looking for donations yep i like donations absolutely donations are always good busy and you’re a crazy realtor like we are there’s no doubt about that it’s hard to even go on a vacation with you guys without you guys being on the phone i know it’s terrible but uh but you know (16:10) at least we could make donations which you know what i’m going to do that now because I think it’s a great great uh great thing and um yeah we run matching programs uh at the end of the year which is just getting over today with being tax day um well we’re just just getting over earlier and um you can do that as far as you know getting matching donations prior to the tax issues you can um put things into your into your will which we encourage people to do if you’re going to pass money on to someone um please do it for us (16:43) for an organization that can help so again if you’re real busy with time make a good donation if you are have a lot of time and you want to do something worthy donate you donate your time and your services we need it and we have a great community here of folks who’ve been here maybe 20 years and maybe now they need a little extra help so this is a worthy cause and we’re happy to help you and happy to do it and I know these people i can vouch personally for them all they’re good people well thank you for the help i appreciate it you’re welcome (17:13) so again what is that people who care.org people who care.org uh please check us out see what you think um Diane and Randall I’m sure will be um communicating with me as you give them a call and say “I want to volunteer my time i want to volunteer my money i want to volunteer or I need someone to help me out. (17:32) ” Yes whether it’s you know reading or vision or driving to the get your pet to the vet uh get me to the doctor’s office absolutely and remember it is not based on financial need it’s just to help anyone who maybe needs a little extra help does not matter on your finances or your situation we’re just here to help our our older community all right well thank you Bob we’re so glad you came i appreciate it all right cheers to that cheers to people who care and you better call us all right we look forward to hearing from you take care bye bye
You read that right! If you’re looking for a night of acrobatic tricks, live music, and pasties, then get yourself on over to Prescott’s very own “The Federal” aka “The Fed.” Join us this week as we regale you with our experience of being elders in the crowd, as well as what to expect from this night of burlesque fun.
Hello, hello, hello, hello peeps and welcome to the Randol and Dian bro show. No, not really. But anyway, we are your local friendly realtor couple here in Prescuit. She’s the Prescuit pickle lady. I am her sidekick or girkin or he is. And so we like to uh bring you guys, welcome you to Prescuit, take you around, find you a great house and show you what life is all about here. Yes. (00:26) So, something interesting we just discovered and we went to with former clients, now friends. Shout out to Cheryl and Mike. Thanks for being good sports and coming with us. It was an interesting night. Interesting night at the Fed. So, let’s start at the Fed. Yeah. So, the Fed is the Federal and uh it used to be a uh a post office. (00:50) Well, no, no. Upstairs was the courthouse. Courthouse. Well, I’ve never been above it was the courthouse. When we first moved here, it was a post office. So you there were people working there. Post office downstairs. This still operates as post office. Yes. Do they wear pasties at the post office? Well, I guess they could. It’s acceptable now. (01:08) It’s acceptable now. Okay. All right. You can express yourself. No body shame. I get it. Hey, everybody’s welcome. Hey, it’s okay. So, evidently it’s still a post office, but upstairs there is a event venue called the Federal. Yes. And it’s the old like there’s one room they call the jury room. (01:27) I assume at one point there were juries in there and there’s like a the stage area I think used to be a courtroom. Yes, that’s what I just said. It was like a that’s where the judge sat and preided. So that’s that’s on like the second or third floor. What’s what’s above that? Do you know? I don’t know. Nobody knows. (01:45) Nobody knows the Yeah. Nobody knows. But the fed is on I think it’s second floor. Third floor. I forget. Go. We walked up the stairs. It doesn’t matter. It’s on the second floor. On the second floor. It’s important. It’s a pretty pretty pretty venue. So, if you walk up the stairs and you get to the Fed, don’t keep climbing the stairs. Yeah. (02:02) Stop because you’ve hit the right place. So, it’s a cool venue. I had never been to it before. Uh, great for bands, kind of self-contained. Yeah. Uh, I’m sure you can rent the place out if you have your own event you want to do there. And just really kind of cool. It was a just a really cool space. (02:20) And what was going on there is um perhaps difficult to describe. Right. And I have heard about this, but I had never participated. And so our our friends Mike and Cheryl said, “Hey, have you heard there’s a burlesque show here in Prescuit?” I said, “You know, I’ve heard about it, but are you for real? Where? I’ve never I never knew that such a thing really happened. (02:40) I’d heard rumor.” She goes, “Oh, no. It’s a real show and it’s about once a year.” So I’m like, “You know what? For shits and giggles, we should go. Let’s go.” So we did. We went. So, we did. And I I mean, I should know better because I’m from New Orleans. I should totally have known the difference between burlesque and drag. I learned differently. Yeah. (02:59) Yeah. We were kind of thinking it was going to be a drag show. That’s what I thought. It was not. It The people wearing pasties were um actual young ladies. Real women. Real women. And not all of them were wearing pasties, but a fair number of them were. Yeah. Uh crazy show. (03:16) It was It was called The Forbidden Garden. Yeah. And it last the show lasted for so I should talk about the group first. So young people uh evidently there are some here in Prescuit and most of them performed in this burlesque show I think. Uh either that or they were in the audience. So it’s obviously a very young vibe but uh everyone was very friendly even though you know we we were older. (03:42) They were very accepting of very accepting of the old folks. Yeah. So you know thank you for that. Thank you for that pretending for making us feel welcome. Yeah, make us feel welcome. That’s always good. But it was a a fantastic show. It was completely created by themselves. They made a great It was almost two hours and they had a lot of acrobats. (04:01) Uh they had a lot of dancing. They had a lot of uh singing. They had musicians. So essentially it was a old like the old variety shows. So they had uh they had they had a rig set up where uh I don’t know what it’s called, but this woman sort of wraps herself in a net and then kind of climbs up and you guys know when you do yogurt yogurt yogurt. (04:24) When you do yogurt, you start to spiral. You do yoga. Yoga uh with all the silks and the the scarves and all. You know, kind of impressive. Yeah, very impressive. I just don’t know what they call it. And then they had a uh a couple that were on uh a trapeze and they they were quite wonderful, too. Very acrobatic. (04:45) Uh very interesting. They had uh guitar player. They had u some pole girls uh spinning around around very impressive. Tremendous upper arm strength. And then basically dancers. They had a number of dancers. That’s where the pasties came from. And uh dancing. Really hard for you. What? It was really hard for you and and Mike to watch the pasties. Yeah, I know. (05:11) I know. Pasties anger me. Not really. So anyway, that they uh all very talented people kind of strung together by a matraee. She kind of had an ongoing uh ongoing thing where she would do some readings and talk and kind of interact with the audience I guess while the next Zach was getting ready and then they would come on. (05:33) So basically a traditional it was kind of like a mini it was like a mini circus sole. Yeah. Yeah. And here in Prescuit you wouldn’t think there’d be such a thing. There was It was well done, professionally executed. Yeah, it was like a mini, like I said, cirus here in Prescuit. Definitely an avanguard uh absolutely feel. (05:56) Uh you know, they had projection, things were projected on the wall and and beautiful. Yeah, it was it was uh really interesting. Really different. It was a good show. Yeah. And so we had a great time. I think we were the oldest people there, but hey, that’s okay. You know, we’re hip and happening. We’ll we’ll check it out and let everybody know. (06:13) Yeah, we had a good time. So, if you were living here in Prescat, I highly recommend check out the Fed. Check out the different shows. There’s always really interesting, cool things coming. We’ve got a whole vibe here of very, very, you know, artsy, fartsy, very intelligent young people who are very creative putting out some really nice works. (06:34) Creative avanguard kind of thing. Yeah. You wouldn’t expect it in a little western town, but but we got They’re there and they they were great. They were. So anyway, hats off to them. Thank you for the show. We had a wonderful time. Thanks Mike and Cheryl for telling us about it and we had a good time. We had a great time. (06:50) And also they gave out free succulents. Remember that? Yeah. We got succulent. They had a chick with a instead of cocktails in her hoop, she had little baby succulents. Little baby succulents. There was a lady there just sort of randomly painting the whole time. I didn’t understand what that was, but okay. (07:08) Everyone was kind of going watching her work, you know. As I said, avant guard, you know, but we we enjoyed it. But we did it. So anyway, so if you’re coming here to Prescuit, keep your ears open and try some of this stuff. It’s actually pretty cool. Yeah, you’d be amazed at what’s here. Absolutely. (07:26) So now that’s our tip of the day. If you like tips, the place to go is our free information site. Whether you are a buyer, seller, or somewhere in between, the place to go is pickle 411. There you will find things that will amaze, astound, educate, and entertain you to no end. Yes. And on your you will find no pictures of us with pasties. (07:47) That is not not available. We thought about it and we had to we had to recall. We’re getting special requests. Maybe too many complaints. Maybe too many complaints. All right. Thank you for listening and we hope to see you at one of these cool shows one day. Take care and have a great rest of your day. Bye bye.

) okay hello hello hello I’m so happy to be here this morning I am Dian bro with my happy helpful sidekick Randall bro try we are your husband and wife Team Real Estate team I am and so we are here to talk about a pretty cool little Winery right here in the uh middle of our little town so they got a few wineries around a lot most of you kind of have to drive to get there this one’s probably the thing I like most about it is it is so easy it’s right off of 69 I’m not sure if it’s in Prescot Valley or Dewey if it’s in Dewey (00:38) it’s right off across the bo super close to each other yeah but it is on the south side of 69 and you get off a 69 you go into this place you immediately feel like you’re a thousand miles away you wouldn’t even think it I mean you can see it from 69 but you get out there it’s quiet it’s lovely um they’ve got great wines they have great seaing they have some covered seating sometimes they have bands they have good food and so we’ve gone a couple of times with friends just to kind of sit away from the maddening (01:11) crowds and uh be out kind of outdoors and enjoy the the beautiful weather we have here and have some good wine yeah absolutely so if you’re kind of in the mood for a winery and but you don’t want to you don’t have time to go drive halfway across the state or whatever uh this a really good option yeah uh we were there they had a guy playing he was an amateur but he was good we enjoyed listening to him shy shakery boards Sherie Sherie boards yes like the shark Sherie Sherie boards were uh were really love a good Shar look good shark no not (01:47) a good shark good shark a good shoot that’s what I call it I love me a good shoot yes the wine was good they had I think they had other some other uh uh drinks as well that were available uh but really it it’s a nice little Retreat and it’s a lot closer than a lot of the other ones not too far from home easy to park easy Park just a nice little you know maybe 20 minute drive and then you can go back home and uh so good to get away from it all small family runs it well not small it it’s a small place family run that’s right I know the (02:21) family is not small I mean well we don’t know that I don’t know if they have a lot of members but the guy was pretty tall as I recall so not a small family but uh it’s a nice uh nice place to go to spend a nice afternoon maybe out in in good weather and stuff like that absolutely so if you’re looking for a place fairly close but without having to go too far try Mongolian Winery off of 69 off of 69 you’ll have a good time like we did yes all right hope to see you there take care have a great day bye bye”
We’ve all been there; you’re driving along at 30 mph and all of a sudden you’re getting pulled over for speeding in a 25 mph zone…a speed set for a neighborhood that hasn’t even been built yet! Join us this week to learn which towns have the most speed traps and how to avoid getting that ticket.
bonjour Hello Hello Meami This is Diana Randall Bro your friendly pickle team your friendly realtor husband and wife team here in Prescuit Arizona And we are here to talk to you about crazy things that uh some of the areas here that have speed traps So yeah Yeah If you’re visiting or if you live here now and you’re trying we’re going to help you out cuz we just got caught in one of them Yeah not happy about it Yeah You know there there are speed traps and there are speed traps You know sometimes speed trap is in a (00:35) place where it’s a valuable thing Yeah it can be a valuable thing It really depends on the speed and the trap So uh I drive like a paw paw My my wife is constantly saying “What a pawpaw.” I can vouch for this It just I drive a lot though I’m on the road driving quite a bit and uh usually once every five years or so I will get a speeding ticket and it’s always some uh bogus thing It’s bogus Now I am a little more daring I drive a little faster a lot faster I never get tickets Never get tickets But this one Mr Kosh (01:12) is here No it’s just cuz I drive more than you do I drive a lot more than Grandpa here Grandpa gets more tickets It’ll be you know like three One time it was 3:00 in the morning Yep And I was kind of lost and all the streets were saying no left turn no left turn And uh I took or or they were all oneway streets or something and I think I took a right on a on a red light or something You’re getting mired down in the Well I mean the point is that was bogus There was no one else on the street Cops there just giving everyone who passes by a (01:44) ticket trying to get his his uh quota That to me that’s a speed trap That’s so what we’re here to talk to you about is the speed traps here in Presc Now if you’re if you’re speeding and you’re being reckless the police give you a ticket you deserve it You deserve it And if I’m doing that I deserve it too I have no problem Absolutely These are the spots where technically it’s 25 miles an hour because one day in the future they will have homes here but there are no homes now and it feels like 45 is more appropriate That’s where they’ll take it (02:14) That’s where they gave So that would be on roster That roster Roger between um between 89 and Willow Creek Uh there are some areas there where there are a lot of homes and yeah you pretty much have to go 25 or lower When they say 25 they mean 25 They don’t mean 35 They don’t mean 40 And sometimes when you go it’s a little longer of a bit of a stretch and all of a sudden you don’t even realize that your speed has gone up Yeah And then bam that’s where they get you because they’re hiding And they’re hiding you hiding at the bottom of a (02:46) hill and and they’re hiding in a section where there are no homes for a big long stretch Yes And they were too lazy to make it you know 35 there and plus they would have no place for a speed trap So they sit there waiting for you and they give you bogus tickets So I got one there Yes we did Uh there’s one in what’s called the Yavapai connector and that is through tribe land and it’s the tribe police that will give you a ticket there They want you to go slow Everyone kind of knows they want you to go slow It’s not really a speed trap that if (03:20) they see you speeding they’ll come get you Uh is it ridiculously low yeah it’s ridiculously low And this is where they get you on that road And that’s between 89 and 69 It’s the connector Yeah Um they some sections will say 25 and then the next section a small section will say 35 and then it’s down to 25 Yeah And it is just nothing but desolate land I mean there’s truly nothing there so low Yeah Yeah It’s very easy to kind of pick up speed and zap They’ll get you So we’ve had a number of friends say stop driving so slow Just pick up (03:57) the speed No When I tell you not to do it don’t do it cuz you will get caught and you will get a good ticket But the speed trap of all speed traps Oh yes Is this is the town of Clarkdale Yep So he hasn’t gotten over it yet Yeah It’s really tick We’re working on it Now there are towns like that in every state There’s uh Elgen I think in Texas uh every state you know there’s some towns that’s the the um majority of their revenue comes from bogus uh traffic tickets Well Clarkdale is like that Clark if you go over the Mingus (04:34) Mountains through Jerome on your way to say Sedona When you get down on the other side that’s Clarkdale And they have it’s there’s not a lot out there Um there was a section we were going through It was a a speed It was a uh traffic circle And as soon as you get off the traffic circle it’s 25 miles an hour You go from 45 to 25 even though you haven’t hit any homes yet And you’re coming off of a hill So of course your speed is a little higher because you’re going down and you hit that traffic circle Boom And they’re there waiting (05:08) for you I as soon as I had exited the traffic circle he was he got me They just wait So it was just a complete trap happened to be two days before Christmas on my way to spend money on a bogus uh Santa train Don’t do that either Uh $500 for an an hour train ride was just kind of stupid But anyway now so Clarkdale did you get the idea that you ticked me off don’t go to Clarkdale They spend they a lot of their uh money comes from uh tourism which is wonderful uh but not you can’t have a tourist based economy and do a lot of speed traps The other (05:44) thing is instead of being able just to pay your ticket online and mail it in No you have to go have to actually go there to to give them your credit card in person Uh there’s no judge to say “Hey can we talk about this let’s talk it through.” No just a receptionist Let’s be friends Let’s let’s let’s let’s come to a consensus here Nope It’s simply give us your money and pay the fee Um you couldn’t do anything online and you couldn’t even mail it in You had to go drive all the way down there again and hope you wouldn’t get another ticket and (06:13) another speed trap So now when we go through Clock Dial it will always be 25 miles an hour So if you’re behind us stop blowing your horn flashing your lights been there done that and we don’t care to repeat the mistake Yeah So if you’re in any of those areas um be cautious be aware They’re not kidding around And we just want to save you from the hell that we just went through If you know of any other uh speed traps in the state uh particularly those around the Prescat area send them to us We’ll post them for you so uh you’ll know (06:47) about them in advance It’s important to know especially if you’re new to the area Yeah Ruin your whole day It will And it makes your you know rates go up and or and or you have to do defensive driving and everybody knows that ain’t fun No I’ve done that enough I’m not doing that Nope Nope Nope So anyway just kind of wanted to share that with you and um hope that we can help you avoid future tickets Absolutely You can thank us later You’re welcome All right Thank you for listening and if you have any questions if you’d like to reach out to (07:18) us get in touch You can reach us at pickle411.com That’s our free information site Whether you’re a buyer seller somewhere in between there’ll be something there for you that will amaze us down entertain and inform Yep All completely free You’ll find us there too so you can contact us if you need to There we go All right my friends Have a great rest of your day Take care Bye Bye”

We have a home-selling horror story for you today that you don’t want to miss! Just when you think you’ve done everything to prepare for the all-important final walk-through, this last-second cleaning goof can ruin everything! Tune in to find out how to avoid it.
home yeah so this particular home had the kind of tile that looks so much like wood yeah beautiful beautiful uh floors they were done with a Polish that made them shine yes and uh some people like a glossy finish some people like a matte finish uh these folks I guess really liked a gloss finish and they were using a certain cleaning product uh to get that look to make it look like polish wood even though it was tile and even though it was ti so the important thing was when we went to go do the walkth through uh they had a cleaning service come and clean the home well . they different product they used the wrong product and guess what it stripped it it looked horrible so a very bad feeling to walk in and see yeah this was the walkth through so this is the day before closing and it it just looked like all the floors had been destroyed yeah instead of having that beautiful shine in patina it was like some parts were still glossy and some parts looked really weathered and stripped and so it’s important when you have tile floors use the proper products on the tile floors if you deviate if you use something that’s really not meant for tile number one it can destroy the tile um and number two it can be like what would happen to us um and then you have to figure out how do I do this so our folks it luckily did not destroy the color of the tile no it didn’t they they were evidently the product they had been using had wax or something in it and then when they changed products that’s what you saw on the floor they were able to strip it all off start over but what he had to do was strip it all off yeah had to strip it all off very labor intensive and then they decided we don’t ever want that shine again we don’t care it’s tile as tile as tile so be very wary when you’re starting to put products on your tile floor um it can really do some crazy damage yeah particularly if using a product that’s intended to make the floor look different in this particular case look glossier than it really is yes now if they had told the cleaning crew which product to use it been fine you know they would have been fine we would have closed of course our buyers the first time they went to clean the floors they would have been stuck with it uh but you know this is this is the story of something happening right before close you don’t want to have any surprises you don’t want to have any surpris let’s say you’re having a a dinner party yeah and you decide that you’re going to mop the floors they look really really good and you change products yep wrong that’s the wrong time to try a different product stay with the same product always check with the flooring company and say what can I use for my tile now if we get a problem call us we have found a great company recently Thompson steaming they can come in and clean all that tile for you if you run into this problem yeah um and they can make it look great great they are amazing even on engineered wood flooring yes they did a great job for for client with engineered wood yeah so there are ways to get around it um but you know just not try to avoid that problem in the first place and then you don’t have try to use the right product if you’re using some crazy product be careful when you switch to something else you got it that’s basic tip or you can be like us we just don’t really mop or do anything . we’re pretty chill use water yeah we’re pretty chill we’re like whatever do too much it looks good enough it looks good enough but uh anyway so we just wanted to share that tip with you be super careful because sometimes the damage can’t be undone and then you got a much bigger problem so we just want to share you know one of our experiences and let you know and uh anyway so if you are looking for any tips advice if you’re coming in to look at a home feel feel free to reach out to us at you can find us at pickle 411.com whether you’re a buyer seller or somewhere in between you find something there that will Amaze a stound educate inform yep aound dot dot dot dot dot a lot of things to you ditto ditto ditto yeah and of course you’ll find us there that’s right and we’ll have fun so anyway hope that you’re having a fantastic day like we are today and uh we look forward to seeing you next video take care bye bye

Disney than the North Rim the north rim is a lot more remote yeah it’s almost like a time capsule you (01:15) kind of feel like you’re visiting and it’s the 60s again or something it’s it’s true true you know it it’s very nice they have you can stay on the North and they have cabins darling cabins oldfashioned cabins an oldfashioned Lodge it reminds me of the the place and the shiny yeah The Shining just like that it’s so cool yeah and it’s stunningly beautiful now the southern Rim is beautiful I in my opinion this is a thousand times better yeah I liked it much better oh my gosh small Crow kind of people are really friendly because (01:48) it’s a longer drive it’s a longer drive you got to pay the price uh you go through just acres and acres and Acres of Aspen trees yes so we went in the fall gorgeous thousands and thousands of Aspens and when as we didn’t know this but when Aspens change their leaves or drop their leaves they’re all yellow so it’s a sea of yellow and sometimes on the mountains you’ll see a sea of yellow mixed in with some of the Evergreens yeah stunning yeah it’s absolutely abely stunning and you can go and you can sit on the porch and you can just sit and (02:22) stare at the view have a cocktail they have meals there as well if you wanted to eat there now they they CL yeah they close for the winter they close in they open again in Spring we were there a few weeks before they were ready to close that’s right the weather was gorgeous yes uh it was it wasn’t too hot it you know it wasn’t too cold it was very very nice my only with the restaurant was very good they have H uh places you can get a drink and stuff like that but the one thing I will say is not a lot to do if you’re staying in the cabins on no (02:56) the south rim overnight well you could hike and stuff like that but I can only do that so much yeah and you you can sleep and you know maybe smoke a cigar and that’s about it you know there’s not a lot going on no so we elected to stay in Kebab canab canab Cano yes canab canab canab Utah love that place Town precious little town such a cool town and so a lot of folks go there and stay we and that’s about a it’s about an hour drive from canab to the the north rim right uh but it’s well worth it because that that sound is really cool some of (03:31) the best meals I’ve had in a long fabulous meals we stayed at a great hotel and then from there you can go to um analou Canyon anope Canyon um those are again like one hour drives from canab but from canab we went to the pink sand the Pink Sands which is all these rocks that over the years the erosion it’s just nothing but miles literally of pink sand really gorgeous so and you can um dune buggy ride through the sand buggies there’s also analou Canyon which you can have Guided by Indians American Indians and we have not been there yet (04:10) we’ll do a we are going to go there but the indigenous um uh folks will yeah the tribes will take the tribes will take you on a special Tour by them and they explain all of the beautiful history and and what it’s all about which is that’s gorgeous what’s the other one horseshoe uh I don’t know the horseshoe por B something you can see which is a a great River drove by Lake Powell Lake Powell’s up there a lot of a bunch of stuff up there all kinds who’s the other one that the couple from Europe they were going to go see I don’t remember we (04:43) we met a couple uh two couples I yeah from Europe and they were from the Netherlands and they they were on the north rim and they saw all of they went to all of the other uh antalope Canyon there’s some others anyway there’s a lot of beautiful places in Utah and canab is a great base of operation you go to canab and then kind of spoke out to all these other places and the thing is it’s all within driving distance from Prescot yeah so you can go hey let’s go have a nice long weekend and see this amazing go on Amazing hikes amazing views learn (05:17) a amazing see petroglyphs see caves see it’s just it’s just amazing to see indigenous stopped in Flagstaff on the way up there for lunch and we went to snowball went SN and and took checked that out a little bit and then drove the rest of the way yeah was a delightful drive just a delightful trip uh could not recommend it more highly and and when we were in canab too that the uh evidently they were having their homecoming game and I forget the Cowboys or I I don’t remember but all of the all of the stores and all of the shops in (05:54) town you know go Cowboys or it wasn’t Cowboys but it was cows or something I don’t know but it was cute it was nice to see a little town out you know back in the high school team so it it was sweet it was it’s a great weekend away very Charming nice place to get away um Utah has amazing views and and and sites to see and you learn so much history oh yeah of uh all the different tribes and and it’s it’s amazing it was a good and great shopping for beautiful handmade um American Indian beautiful artifact pieces and stuff (06:30) it’s just a lovely time we cannot say enough good things about canab and the northern Rim so it’s nice little day trips right hello hello hello hello peeps this is Rand and I am Dian bro we’re coming to you from presc Arizona she’s presc pickle I am the pickle lady he is part of the pickle Team part of the pickle lady team that’s right we are here to help you in any way we can and to find a great place um but we also wanted to share something fun that we just learned uh we go see Jazz a lot on the third floor at the Elks Theater which is cool you know this town has a lot of culture oh oh yeah lot of music a lot of theater so at the Elks Theater on the third (00:34) floor they have live jazz so we go about once a month and we listen and so while we were up there we kept seeing area of Refuge yeah they have a room I guess they have one on each floor they do yeah but the we’re we take the elevator all the way up to three so I know they have one on three oh yeah and it’s just this this right outside the door there’s a sign that says area of Refuge which always tickles us and then we have to sit down and pretend like we’re in an area refuge and we do yoga and this that and the other so we never open it up and (01:04) it’s like this little tin room there’s nothing in it there’s nothing in it it’s just a giant closet we’re like well this is interesting I don’t know what this is about but I guess some people need a time out or something yeah what is this about and you can go in there and calm yourself down no explanation whatsoever until one night we went to our new Speak Easy underneath the St Michael’s beast that’s right and They too had a giant area ref Refuge oh it was bigger than the one in Elks much bigger but still not that big I mean it’s just like this (01:33) empty room so of course we always have to joke around and go in the a area of Refuge so we can calm down we make our jokes and we carry on and so finally uh one of the employees we said what is this anyway we see this in a lot of places and it is the newest thing for code when you have big areas of entertainment or I guess uh I don’t know what who gets to get it who qualifies but apparently it is supposed to be for handicapp people if there is a fire they can go into this special room if they if they’re in a wheelchair and they can’t (02:09) get out fast enough and close the door and they’re safe and protected from fire yeah so I would ass yeah I would assume that it is insulated with fire materials and all of that uh there is no explanation for what an area of Refuge is uh I guess the maybe people who uh are disabled are taught this I don’t know but it’s an important thing to understand because you don’t necessarily have to be disabled in a wheelchair or whatever if you’re slow moving if you’re elderly and you can’t if you have sprin ankle or if the uh the stairs are (02:47) overcrowded and you you know the crowd’s not letting you out or whatever this is a place that you can go and either wait to be rescued or at least wait until the situation has changed and you can get out uh so I I don’t think there’s any rule about who can use the area of Refuge no but it’s the kind of thing if you know about it the situation is such uh it could save your life so we thought we would share that abely so we love the area of Refuge I thought it was just for a mind reset but no it’s for safety re (03:18) it works well for that too yeah if you’re sitting at a table and you’re having drinks and someone’s telling a story that you’ve heard a thousand times just go over to the area of Refuge for a few you can always Escape for a few minutes there’s eological Refuge there is absolutely so we love our area of refuge and we think that’s a cool concept and we wanted to share it with you if you see it in one of your restaurants or or social places know what that is and know it’s a good place to go if you need it yeah absolutely all right so that’s it for (03:47) area of Refuge area of Refuge that’s our tip of the day if you like tips Place goes pickle 411.com that is our free information site whether you’re a buyer seller or somewhere in between there’ll be something there waiting you that will Amaze Astound educate inform and entertain inform and educate is kind of the same thing there you go this down check us out we all free all free we hope to hear from you soon take care bye bye
