Prescott has a thriving cultural scene – with artists and musicians and all the things that make a city vibrant and fun. This week we join our good friend, “Jeannie-Weannie,” who gives us a quick tour of Prescott’s Mountain Artists Guild facility and shows us some of her own works displayed there in her gallery.
hello hello hello pickle peeps i am so excited to be here today with my good friend jeannie jeannie russo our fellow artist here she was a former client but now she’s just become a friend and we really enjoy spending time with her anyway we are here at the art guild right this is the mountain artist guild in prescott arizona and in this building we have the art gallery several rooms two rooms in the main room we have jewelry paintings sculptures lots of artistic things also housed in this uh building is the avapai symphony office so we’re we have lots of culture here we have private studios along one wall and a big workspace down below for uh for workshops so it’s it’s it’s just fabulous that even in a little small town like this they have an amazing uh culture here for art music and jeannie has been able to exhibit all of her work here which is absolutely gorgeous so we came down today we get a chance to see all the artwork here and see genies as well so it’s really great here if you are of an artistic bent if you love music if you love painting ceramics whatever we actually have a niche here for you people can come here and share their art and and and develop their skills right yes definitely and right now we’re open um tuesday through friday only from 10 in the morning until four closed on the weekends and the art walk is not happening because of copenh but one of these days we’ll get back into full swing and we’ll be open every day of the week that’s right there’s an art walk here uh on the first friday of every month uh in the past all the galleries were open and it’s a beautiful little walking tour throughout downtown prescott and you can see all kinds of different galleries right now we’re on lockdown right hence the mask my face shield and my genie also complies but she wants you to be able to hear her so anyway uh if you’re making a trip to prescott make sure you check it out and see what our little small town has to offer you in terms of the arts right so if you need any help looking for a home or buying a home selling call us we’re the ones to contact you and we’ll hook you up with all these cool places to check out here in town okay thanks bye

hello hello hello oops this is randall and i am bro here driving through our lovely prescott and our pickle van in our pickle van yahoo hope for the pickle van starting to get some waves now from people who recognize the pickle van which comes by and we try that’s right boy these people are so friendly what’s up yeah and then i realized they just like the pickle so i wave hello so we took the pickle van out to jerome uh we did this past weekend with some wonderful friends of ours who are celebrating their anniversary was it 40 40 55 years 45 so we decided hey let’s take a ride up to jerome which is only 45 minutes away from our lovely town of prescott it’s um an old mining town yeah and a beautiful little ride gorgeous scenery so we all pile into the pickle time there a great time back yes there’s some great restaurants up there of course they’re no longer actively mining it is kind of um an abandoned mining town but it’s filled with cute little shops it’s filled with cute little galleries art galleries a lot of artists go up there and also uh great restaurants yeah they have uh historic things they’re you know like uh over from the mining days and you can kind of check it’s really kind of cool um i have to say i’d rather go i would recommend that you go in the fall or winter a tad hot it’s a little warm it’s a little warm but going in the fall is stunning um all the leaves are changing and you get to see that as you’re winding through uh the mountains and all that but great great food there uh haunted hamburgers is a big popular tourist destination yeah that’s kind of where we were planning on going but wanted burgers is kind of right in the thick of things right it was uh we were there on a sunday yes a lot of people there and i think the weight was like an hour and a half or something so we went instead to what was the old asylum they actually had an asylum apparently when you’re a minor you pretty much go nuts pretty quickly kind of like real estate yeah kind of like real estate no that’s it most real estate agents at one time used to be minors that’s your mother but anyway so they have uh uh an old place there that used to be the asylum where people would go and they’d be committed and spend spend some time so they come back to reality and anyway now it’s a great hotel and uh also a restaurant supposed to be haunted as well if you stay at the hotel supposedly you’ll see some miners the whole town’s supposed to be yeah you’re right i haven’t seen anything yet what’s nice about the asylum is it’s a little more off the beaten path yeah so you you kind of drive your car down this little alley kind of thing right and up this hill and you get out there and then you kind of beat the crowd don’t make the mistake that we did don’t walk over the hill yeah you might not want to walk that uh it is pretty high altitude and in the heat yeah we almost died but we enjoyed that first beer i’ll take the first beer when we finally made it up there it was awesome yeah so but anyway i might have seen some ghosts because i think i was slightly passing out hallucinating and that the hike up yeah but anyway uh great place it’s just fun it’s just a great place to go and it’s only 45 minutes from prescott yeah and there’s a nice little drive through the mountain yeah so if you want a nice little getaway a quick getaway and see some great art galleries uh have some good grub it’s just a very charming little place to visit and we were very lucky to go with our friends bob and karen you’ll see their pictures shortly they’re cute as a button and married 45 years so happy anniversary to you friends and um that is all that is helpful we just wanted to share with you our pictures from jerome and tell you about what a cute little day trip you could have yeah absolutely once you live here in corsica yep all right that’s all that’s all until next time have a good day bye

is violet it’s frankie frankie’s making a shot it’s frankie might not make it but anyway we’re here enjoying the lovely day in the after in the afternoon here on our porch upstairs deck and we were thinking to ourselves wow you know we got this house at a great price right when things were changing and uh the appreciation here has been phenomenal yeah it’s been amazing uh i’m not even sure i could get it now yeah yeah that’s how much it’s gone up since we moved here yeah we’re in prescott prescott lakes presa lakes subdivision is by far the largest in the area and it gets appreciation pretty consistent consistencies consistently since i like 2012 something like that uh between uh eight and ten percent uh appreciation a year a year each year which is one year which is phenomenal yeah so if you’re looking to buy a home and and say will this be a good investment now’s the time because the price is just they’re going up it is really appreciating people yeah it is you know people will come in and they’ll take a look at a house that’s selling for let’s say that you know 700 000 dollars and they’ll say well wait a minute you know the the the seller paid 500 yes only four years ago welcome to 10 appreciation it’s real folks you know i just do the arithmetic if you take 10 or 500 that’s 50 000 a year times four yeah 700 yeah my math teacher would kill me because that’s really not the way you calculate interest if you’re not a geek if you you know you have social skills you can calculate it that way but uh you know just very roughly uh you look at the numbers that way and they’ll give you give you an idea and people are surprised they’re glad to get the appreciation when they own the home uh but they forget you know appreciation works for the other side too so don’t wait too long because you might outprice yourself yeah absolutely on certain homes that you may fall in love with so if you’re thinking i’ll wait a year or two and see what’s going to happen you might you might lose out you might lose out you might lose that particular yeah our buyers from california need to be really careful too because a big part of the reason that uh california is in in large part driving the prescott market and we call it the california arbitrage so you sell your home in california and you come to prescott you buy a home that’s as good or better and you bank like 50 of the cost of the home well if you’re in areas of california and there are still many where the homes are appreciation appreciating very rapidly well that’s fine your home’s appreciating and so are the homes here but some of the areas of california the appreciation is begin to slow down yep if that’s the case you’re going to lose your arbitration you know you’re going to use that extra bank that extra bank that you wanted to put into savings or for your retirement yeah so don’t wait too long don’t wait too long it’s a good time a good time to move we still have some great deals great deals yeah great deals and people for the most part coming in from places like california are amazed at what their money can buy oh yeah still a good investment still a good investment still gonna see some appreciation yeah so anyway we just want to kind of talk about that yeah we’re kind of excited about where we live now we really have never lived any place right great violet yeah yes violet says yes violence yeah where we had some nice appreciation yeah we appreciate appreciation we appreciate you appreciative thing yeah it hasn’t happened to us too often yeah that’s right in other areas where we live texas louisiana so for this we totally embrace it we are psyched yeah we are psyched and so was fighting yeah a beautiful home like this could also be a good investment that’s wonderful it’s a it’s a very nice win-win yeah absolutely so anyway if you’re thinking about it don’t think too long yeah now is the time to strike good time to act very low uh interest rates yes you can lock those in hello hello hello pickle peeps hey peeps this is diane bro with my better half sometimes better half randall bro correct rumbling we’re in the van again we’re trying uh a dash cam still got some grumbling going on on the road so we thought that would be kind of cool in the pickle van driving around keep it keep it uh keep it jumping keep it jumping spicy that’s kind of spicy yeah because yeah we’ve been in uh we’ve been in lockdown for a while yeah exciting so today we’re going to talk about the many terrains of prescott yes so we have people that come in and they have preconceived notions of what prescott is and very different preconceived notions and the answer is we’re all those things we are we have many different types of terrain uh you can drive within five minutes and be in something that looks entirely different than where we just were so if you are a tree person or a forest person we got an area we got it yeah that’s kind of what i thought of about prescott i guess people described it as a mountain town well a mountaintop town to me is a place that’s well mountainous and has like lots of pine trees like pine tree forests yes and we absolutely have that we do yeah and so what’s nice is those particular areas are a little bit higher elevation uh but they are surrounded by pine trees some areas are also bordered by the state national forest it’s lovely it’s beautiful it’s going to be a little you’ll get a little more cooler weather up there you get a little more snow than the winter season you know that’s negligible but what’s beautiful about the tree the trees and the forested sections i mean you really feel like you’re in a tree house yeah some of these homes are built off the side of a mountain and all you hear is the swaying and the wind in the pine trees yeah it’s gorgeous it’s gorgeous it’s it’s just beautiful very peaceful very nice so if that is where your heart is we have that we have that section to take that and then that most of the areas in town that have lots and lots of pine trees are the southwest section of town yes if you go a little further north uh we’ll show you scenes from uh the haciampa area which is uh is kind of like our our next terrain the trees tend to thin out a little bit but still lots of terrain lots of drought that has and boulders yeah trees and boulders trees and boulders which is a really cool combo kind of my favorite combo really yeah um you’ll have the boulders plus you’ll still have the beauty and the greenness of the trees yes um and a little bit mountainous yes so that’s cool yeah and some people do not want any terrain they don’t want any hills they don’t want they want it flat yeah you know and so a good area for that but they still want trees is williamson valley williamson valley so lots of uh lots of flatter land still get a fair amount of rock um you know you can have some rock formations most of the homes can be done on a single level because there’s more flat land right um you’re not looking through trees so if you’re an area with lots of trees well your view is going to be trees sometimes you can’t see past the trees to see what’s beyond uh they have granite mountain in the distance yeah and out in the williamson valley area flatlands but lots of juniper uh scrub brush it’s kind of looks like an old western town it’s kind of a western like you’re just waiting for those tumbleweeds to come come through so totally different section totally different feel and one section that’s really popular it’s kind of in between a little bit more terrain than williamson valley but not a lot of trees is sort of midtown around the uh the area prescott lakes uh there is uh there are some homes that are built like on the edge of a cliff you know the the stemwall construction uh which is nice but there is some flat land some singles and again you have views of the dells willow lake watson lake um so that’s a little more of a planned subdivision so it’s beautifully landscaped so you see lots of green um but you will see some great distant views of granite mountain thumb butte uh and the dells and the dells which is our last area we wanted to talk about which is not unique to prescott but pretty close there are only a few areas in the world who have these kinds of uh rock formations and we are one of them and they are just stunning i love it it’s uh very similar kind of similar to the rocks in sedona but these are we call the fred flintstone for you people of our generation you’ll know what we’re talking about fred flintstone rocks and it’s right here in the heart of prescott lots of kayaking around there lots of hiking in there um it’s beautiful very very peaceful so some people like to live around those dells and see those rocks and the rocks and it is super cool um so prescott has it all so whatever your preconceived notions some preconceived notions we don’t have some people think that prescott is a desert town no we are not we are not a desert town we have four seasons here folks four beautiful seasons yep none are extreme okay we are not desert this is not phoenix this is not uh yeah you know scottsdale yeah this is very moderate you know temperatures yeah we’re not like flagstaff we’re not high enough to really get snowbound we don’t have elk here no uh we have a fickle lady you know she’s pretty wild yeah yeah i can be after a couple martinis absolutely it’s pets absolutely but anyways so when you come to prescott be open we will take you to all sections especially for your first visit and then you can decide oh i love the rocks oh i know i’ve got to be in trees end of sentence yeah then we can really hone in on the search and just go to those sections and be open to the possibility that you might change your mind we did i thought i wanted to live in the pine trees absolutely and we ended up buying uh in the prescott lakes area that’s right uh which is more kind of a happy happy medium that i think we love it so check it all out you gotta check it out keep yourself open to all possibilities you cannot go wrong here everything here is beautiful and delightful absolutely just different hello hello hello what’s happening out there ah summer’s happening summer is happening we’re super super excited we’re in the new pickle mobile yeah well the the the pickle van is not new but it’s got a new look it’s got a new look we got our pickle decals we’re so proud to represent the pickle lady brigade uh very excited summer’s here i don’t know if you can tell my bangs have grown in a little bit she’s looking less childish since the last time you saw us that’s right trying to hold this stick straight but it’s hard um but anyway so yeah we’re super excited that summer is arriving our pace has picked up dramatically the city is open we’ve had a ton of visitors our californians hey you guys may not know this but you are allowed to come into our fair city we do not have a quarantine in effect you are allowed to cross state borders you do not have to stay here for 14 days and self-quarantine [Music] you’re okay here absolutely we’re open for business you’re allowed to cross the state lines you’re allowed to visit our hotels are open our restaurants are open with limited table tops uh we are still following protocol but pretty much uh prescott’s open for business yeah a lot of misinformation out there we’re getting a lot of calls from people saying oh i heard you’re gonna have to self quarantine for 14 days that is not the case not the case at all um we’ve had several californians who came in crossed the border they said absolutely no stops or weird things uh they had their one agricultural stock that they always have but other than that um no fears here no one’s going to lock you down once you cross the state lines you’re good to come in here uh of course use common sense if you feel like you’ve been exposed stay put for a while if you’ve been quarantined and you’re and you’re ready to come out and check out what life is like here in prescott feel free absolutely you’re welcome to do that we’ve had i think 294 cases in yavapai county which is where prescott is located that encompasses sedona cottonwood some other smaller cities as well as prescott prescott valley we’ve had 294 cases with six reported deaths so uh we’re holding pretty steady yeah um and uh as i said we’re following all safety protocols yes we are so you are welcome to come here come enjoy the beautiful summer weather here before monsoon season starts and our rains come right now it’s just glorious sunshiny days in the 80s and the evenings it’s in the 60s can’t beat it it’s been nice it’s been really really nice look at what a good job randall’s doing driving oh yeah we both have survived uh quarantine yeah uh i withdrew the divorce the separation that’s right yeah i withdrew that i thought about it i still can’t get within six feet of her but uh other than that i’m good to go but we decided to hang in there we survived the bangs survived the bangs are coming back that’s right now my hair has gotten shorter yeah his hair has gotten shorter yeah i got my summer dude going here i got to keep myself nice and cool but we’re making it so sorry if this is a little yeah just a little wobbly i’m trying to keep wiggle it a little more it’s it’s hard you’re getting some bumps while we’re driving but anyway uh we’d love to have you we’d love to take you out to look at some homes tell you what life is about here and uh see if this could be your next destination you’re looking for more information hit up pickle411.com both buyers and sellers lots of information free giving away and uh very informative yes so look us up check it out and uh give us a call the pickle lady brigade is here with you with you to help you on your next step in life hold on we’re hitting some bumps again lots of bumps lots of bumps but life is full of bumps that’s right i couldn’t get it out fast enough but isn’t that what life is about that is with life lately lots of bumps am i right check us out at pickle411.com see what we’re all about and uh make an appointment to come out and see us love to show you around take care and have a good day bye

absolutely very excited about that we’re
here to talk today about
how paint is your friend
paint is definitely your friend yes uh
so when you are getting ready to sell
your house um
and maybe you have some color that you
loved you thought was just amazing
maybe not so much for the general
purpose yeah yeah
so tell them tell them about the mint
house i will we call it the mint house
yeah
it’s not mint anymore it’s not mitch
anymore but it was a beautiful home
in a beautiful neighborhood i mean
surrounded by gorgeous rocks and
boulders and i mean
single store beautiful great views we
showed that house i
love that house i showed it i showed it
i showed it
so beautiful what threw everybody off
was
the majority of the home was a light
light pale pale green
yeah it didn’t but honestly it didn’t
bother me at all yeah it was
it was subtle it wasn’t like her shirt
no
no it was no it was a very
light mint screen yes but
most of our buyers just could not get
past it
they were just like oh my god the green
the green the green they it lost
everything else that the the qualities
that this home had were completely lost
in the mist which was what’s your
response
lost in the mint yeah correct lost in
the mint
so after it was on the market about six
months they finally painted it a generic
color and it’s still but by that point
it was stale it was stale everyone like
all the agents in town
were calling it the men house the mentos
and even after they painted it
they couldn’t get people to go in and
see it
and honestly i think that i think that
color
cost them maybe a hundred thousand
dollars they really had to kind of sell
this
beautiful lovely home they had to give
it away they had to give it away
because it’s not in the market it’s that
on the market so when you have an
agent she goes in and she will say you
need to do this this this and this
don’t take it personally yeah this is at
that point when you decide to sell it
becomes a business transaction yeah
absolutely
so we want to get you the best dollar
for your home
yep absolutely follow our advice
listen to mom and dad if you think
they’re going to be able to look past
your mentoring they’re not they’re not
if you they’re going to look past that
busy wallpaper to them
and if even if they can if they can
they’re probably an investor
and they know they’re the only people
who can look past the look past the
color
in the wallpaper so they’re going to
give you lowball offers
paint is your friend and paint is cheap
and it covers
all kinds of problems it does it makes
it nice and fresh
smells good smells good and in the
scheme of things what you spend on paint
compared to the difference in price that
you’ll get is uh
negligible it is absolutely and it saves
you time on market
yeah just swallow it so i’m going to
accept this
and i’m going to look at this as a
business transaction not
get the emotion out of it yeah and don’t
don’t paint everything just white
uh a lot of people have white people
white
sheep and white doesn’t bother you
particularly if you’re not gonna have
furnishings in the house
well that’s gonna show well that’s true
it cheapens it um
yeah if you if you list with us we’ll
have
our world-class designer and give you
advice about what colors or whether you
need to paint and all that
listen to her she has done multi-million
dollar homes with some very famous
people she really knows what she’s doing
and uh she can keep things cheap and
effective for you
uh but don’t just go white i just don’t
go away a lot of people think oh i’m
just gonna paint it white
okay we don’t all have to listen to you
though
white’s
he’s getting on my nerves yeah thank god
we don’t have white walls you’d be dead
wouldn’t survive in the bright house
anyway

well hello hey peeps at our open house here on our open house and we had a little break so we’re like you know what time to do a shoot time for some coffee time for some coffee so uh we are here at our lovely listing at 1262 pebble springs had a little lull in traffic so we decided let’s come sit out here and have some coffee in the courtyard and chit chat oh we’ll wait for somebody else to show is so gorgeous it kind of feels like spring has sprung but it really hasn’t yeah just another february day just another great day here living the life in prescott so what are we here to talk about today mr brown well we want to talk about objectives so if you’re looking to buy a house in prescott one of the things that you need to be straight on and straight with us is your objectives like what are you looking for and you can break people into two camps those who are looking for a dream home and those that are looking for a great investment yes and a lot of times you know you start out in one and then they they they start talking about the other and they get themselves all discombobulated so we thought we’d talk a little bit about what that means and kind of how you you travel one path or the other correct i think a lot of people here are moving here for their final maybe retirement retirement yeah so are you looking for your retirement home slash dream home or you’re looking just to buy something for an investment and get some appreciation yeah i do want to say one thing um pretty much whatever you buy here whether it’s your final dream home you don’t care if you’re going to make money on it or not um you will still get some pretty good appreciation yeah you’ll get good appreciation but you know you buy well yes yes you know but if that’s what’s driving your decision then we’re gonna steer you toward certain things like for example if you are looking for the best investment you can possibly get we’re going to steer you away from new construction yes you pay a premium for new construction and having things just the way that you want customers the latest and greatest maybe your particular taste is not completely mainstream you want something a little off which might limit the market when you go to sell the home yep uh you know but if that’s what you want then buy that buy that absolutely if you want a great investment yeah kind of like buying a car a brand new car you drive it off the lot you kind of you know in the beginning in the beginning after you buy new construction you might get dinged a little bit in appreciation over the years though it will definitely appreciate yeah but you know you can’t expect huge jumps and appreciation you know within the first year of purchasing a new home because the rest of the developments going up and this that and the other yes so you know it’s something to kind of keep in mind um and also keep in mind that there are people out there who have come before you and they have built their dream homes yep knowing full well that when they go to sell they’re going to have to discount yep you buy those that’s a good investment that’s a good investment that’s kind of how this the circle of life things sort of works you know exactly i mean i constantly think about trading in randall and they said in the other i’m like well i mean if i get a newer model if you hadn’t married your dream guy well you would have been able to get a better deal if i were recycled through some other wife you’d get a much better deal it’s the same thing with houses you’re so bright i mean new construction some people are like you know what it’s my last house i don’t want to ever have to worry about putting on a roof or replacing anything new construction is the way to go for you yeah you will it’ll be worry free you can move here and not have anything on your plate that you have to worry about and look you may be thinking look whatever i investment or whatever that’s just going to be more money in the kitty when i die and my kids get all this yes they’re already getting more than they deserve you know or whatever you know i don’t know your kids but you know it’s like whatever’s left over that’s on them it’s not up to me to make that is maximize that i want to live my life and correct have a dream home that’s your choice absolutely you know that’s your choice but here’s the thing don’t mix your metaphors yeah yes if you’re in the mode i want to dream home then don’t get caught up with resale or buy what you want uh or maybe you’re somewhere in between right you know if a dream home is 10 and an investment home is zero you may be at a four you may be at a seven and we can kind of help you but you need to be clear on what your objectives are absolutely don’t don’t find the dream home and then and then in the 11th hour you’re thinking yeah but it’s not a good investment yes make up your mind what you want beforehand and we can help you find it absolutely and you know my saying is some people come in they’re like well i don’t know i mean i i love the views from this house but i don’t know i worry about resale here’s my here’s my kicker which is what my parents taught me if you’re of a certain age and this is your last house it really won’t be your problem now will it about resale that’s your kids part problem that’s your kid’s problem so if you see something that you absolutely fall in love and you’re like this is my last house but i’m a little concerned about maybe um an electric tower behind me or a power line yeah but everything else or hey i like to remodel old cars yes i need a lift in the garage right you know again that’s going to be your your kid’s problem that’s your kid’s problem you know my parents taught me well they did the same thing they were like you know that’s exactly what they did don’t worry about resale particularly if this is your retirement slash dream home you know honestly let’s let’s i mean i hate to say it but it’s really not going to be your problem is it that’s it it’s going to be you are your heirs it’s going to be your children’s problem um but in the meantime you will be enjoying the time of your life yeah and yeah that kind of thing just in general that this is your retirement home i would tell you that you should probably lean more toward the dream home mentality than you otherwise might correct because if you are like a lot of people who are in this in a position to buy a dream home you have a lifetime of habits and and actions that got you here yeah and so that’s that’s what you’re comfortable with with that’s what you’re you’re used to yeah that would be called earning it earning it you know you’ve earned it and now you can it’s well within the realm for you to spend a little of that uh rather than i’ll pass it on that don’t always worry about is this the sensible correct you know kind of you know what this is it this is your hurrah yeah enjoy it you worked hard i kind of like how this topic has kind of steered around to something else yeah you like that i do because you know what it is your it is your your hurrah that this is your retirement have fun don’t worry about oh investments we’re not going to sear you any place that’s going to be horrific no is that being said yes if you like no i want to i want to give my kids as much money as i possibly can it’s got to be we can help you we can do that for you and we cover it for you we can and we can we can go zero we can go 10 we can go anywhere in between but you need to be clear on what your objectives you do think about your objectives and we are here to to find whatever you need uh and to fulfill whatever objective you know your heart is calling you to that’s what we’re all about but just some food for thought this so we thought we’d
